# Environmental & Carbon Footprint Policy

**Environment / Carbon Footprint Policy**

We are the collective keepers of this planet. We practice good earthmanship in the following ways:

At our facilities:

* We use sensored energy efficient lighting
* Our kitchen provides real plates and cutlery for use, reducing waste.
* We use energy efficient appliances.
* Hand dryers are used in bathrooms (in lieu of disposable paper products).
* We engage local services for waste removal and recycling according to our Waste Management Policy.
* We have a list of preferred products / vendors / guidelines for regular [office supply purchases](https://engine74.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/OPS/pages/207192115/rTraction+Policies+and+Guidelines?preview=/207192115/206962729/Environmental%20Purchasing.pdf).

In our work:

* We encourage carpooling and public transportation to off-site business interactions.
* We limit corporate travel outside of the region when possible. When travel is required, we encourage carpooling / train, and make efforts to group meetings by location.
* We provide on-site storage for employees who wish to bicycle to work, and have an on-site shower for employees who wish to commute by way of exercise.
* We use Proposify (with integrated signatures) for proposals management, and digital signatures wherever possible, to reduce paper usage without compromising the commitment in contracts.
* We use virtual meeting technology (e.g., Zoom.us) to reduce in-person meetings when possible.
* We encourage team members to [work from home](https://engine74.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HR/pages/207159307/HR+Policies+and+Guidelines?preview=%2F207159307%2F207224855%2F2017+Flexible+Work+Policy+.pdf) when suitable.

In our support:

* Vocal in municipal initiatives for improving local public transit and access green bins.
* Promote and enable reforestation initiatives in our community.
* Vocal and active in local community inclusion initiatives.

We pledge, as conscious participants, to monitor and manage the impact our products, our people and our place have on our environment.
